PURE Expo cancels Las Vegas, citing lack of local government support

Despite hundreds of exhibitor requests, dozens of booths reserved and an over abundance of speakers, the Consular Chamber of Commerce has cancelled its Las Vegas Expo, which had been slated for 21-24 September, 2011.  The Royal African Ball, which was to end the event, is likewise cancelled for relocation next year.

Objections from the State of Nevada's office of protocol, as well as from staffers at the office of the Mayor of the City of Las Vegas, and objections from the Nevada Consular Corps corporation, took root at the District Export Council and with others.  This understandably caused primary sponsors to pull back.

PURE did receive support from the Southern Nevada Water Authority, the Embassy of Uzbekistan, and others.  We thank all who made this attempt, and apologize for the end result.

The Southern Nevada Water Authority will be having its annual expo, WaterSmart Innovations, October 4-7 in Las Vegas.  Watersmart innovations has broadened its focus to international potability issues, as well as conservation.  We strongly recommend attending Watersmart Innovations, where many Consular Chamber members will be present.

PURE will continue as an online forum until a friendly venue is decided upon in the future.
